In the CTE Cosmetology P
rogram students are prepared to cut, trim, and style scalp, and facial hair; apply cosmetic preparations; perform manicures and pedicures; massage the head and extremities; and prepares students for practice as licensed cosmetologists in specialized or full-service salons. It includes instruction in hair shampooing, cutting and styling; manicures; pedicures; facial treatments; chemical applications; esthetics; shop management; sanitation and safety; customer service; and applicable professional and labor laws and regulations.

The program is structured based on state requirements. The first 350 hours will focuses on the basics of cosmetology. After 350 hours the students will be able to work hands on with in-person guests until they complete their required 1500 hours. The goal is to prepare the students for not only passing their licensing exam, but also to prepare them to launch a sustainable career.

Prospective students are required to complete and submit an application form to their high school counselor to be considered for enrollment into this program. More information and application form can be found at under the Parents & Students menu.

Additional Credit Requirements for Graduation:

This state-approved CTE program may meet additional graduation credit requirements, including

  • Mathematics/Final Year Math-Related
  • Science
  • VPAA (Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts), and/or World Language.
