Students from our CTE programs visit 5th grade students to introduce them to opportunities for their high school years. The visit is preceded by a Career Interest Inventory.
What do you want to do when you grow up? Would you rather...Be a TV newscaster or play a musical instrument? Calculate the time it takes to fly to Mars or test new computer programs? Design an office building or work on a farm? Weld parts together to build a missile or set up computer systems?
High school students represent their respective CTE program by involving the 5th grade students in a hands on activity.
A short survey follows up asking if the activities were interesting, if they learned something new, and if they will share what they learned with others.
This is great exposure for the 5th grade students and an excellent leadership opportunity for the high school students.
