Welding and Fabrication

 

The CTE Welding and Fabrication Program prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. It includes instruction in arc and resistance welding; brazing and soldering; welding and cutting; solid state welding; ferrous and non-ferrous materials; oxidation-reduction reactions; welding metallurgy; welding processes and heat treating structural design; safety; and the applicable codes and standards.

The Welding Fabrication Program is offered at the following locations:

  • Airport High School
  • Flat Rock High School
  • Woodhaven High School

Additional Credit Requirements for Graduation:

This state-approved CTE program may meet additional graduation credit requirements, including:

  • Mathematics/Final Year Math-Related
  • Science
  • VPAA (Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts)

CTE Credentials are aligned for this state approved CTE program. Students in this program my qualify to take the assessments for these credentials:

  • AWS SENSE Level 1 Entry Level Welder - FCAW
  • AWS SENSE Level 1 Entry Level Welder - GMAW
  • AWS SENSE Level 1 Entry Level Welder - SMAW
  • AWS SENSE Level 1 Entry Level Welder - GTAW
